How the reviews are collected, what comes up most often on both sides, how the rating differs by product, and our public replies to the critical reviews. A page of five stars with no complaints on it is a filtered page.

How these reviews are collected

Worth stating plainly, because "verified reviews" means very little on its own.

Everyone gets asked

The request goes to every funded borrower three days after the money lands — not only the ones we expect to be happy. Selecting who gets invited is the most common way a rating gets quietly inflated.

Nothing is offered in return

No discount, no entry into a draw, no fee waiver. An incentivised review has to be disclosed as such under FTC rules, and it is worth less to you as a reader anyway.

Critical reviews stay up

We do not remove reviews for being unflattering. Where a complaint is fair we reply publicly underneath it, which you can see further down this page.

How to read any lender's rating, including ours. Look at the 1- and 2-star reviews first, and check whether the company replied. A wall of five stars with no criticism anywhere is not a sign of a good company — it is a sign of a filtered page.

What comes up most often

The same handful of things account for most of what people write, good and bad.

Praised most

  • Money arriving the same day, often within the hour
  • Seeing the full cost of every offer before choosing
  • Being approved on benefit income when other lenders refused
  • No penalty for paying off early
  • Payment dates moved on request without an argument
  • No app to download and no phone calls

Criticised most

  • The membership renewing after a one-off advance was repaid
  • APRs on the interest-bearing products being high
  • First approval smaller than the amount requested
  • Express transfer reverting to standard on some banks
  • Products not being available in every state
  • Installment loans taking a full business day or two

The first item on the right is the one we take most seriously, because it is avoidable. If you take a single Advance and do not intend to take another, cancel the membership the moment you repay — one click, effective immediately. We would rather lose the $14.99 than have someone discover it three months later.

Reviews by product

The rating is not the same across all four products.

Advance and Flex score highest, because they are fast and the cost is small in dollars. Installment loans score lowest, because a 24-month commitment at a high APR is a harder thing to feel good about — and we would rather show you that split than average it away.

Same day, no credit check

Was like $300 short on rent and payday was a week out. Did it on my lunch break, soft pull so it didn't ding my score, money was in same day. Easy.

Funded before my shift ended

Car broke down, needed $1,200. Applied that morning, paid the $3.99 for instant and it was in my account before I clocked out. I drive for a living so a fixed payment I can plan around is everything.

They take Social Security income

I'm retired, live on my SSDI. You would not believe how many places turn you away the second you say benefits. These guys didn't care, deposit's steady and that's all they looked at. Only pay interest on what I draw.

Fixed payment, real payoff date

Rate isn't cheap and they don't pretend it is. But I've got thin credit and nobody else would do $2,500 without a co-signer. Paid it off early, no penalty, and it actually bumped my score. 4 stars only cause I wish the APR was lower.

Way better than a payday loan

Used to go to a payday store and honestly the APR there is robbery. This was a fraction of that and I didn't even leave the house, no app to download. Paid a day late once, no fee.

Moved my due date, no argument

My hours got cut and I emailed them 4 days before the payment. They just moved it. No fee, no lecture, no 40 minutes on hold. That's it, that's the review.

Got approved for less than I asked

Asked for $2,000, got offered $1,200. Bit annoying but they showed me exactly why and the cost was all there so I took it. Second time round they offered more. Fair enough I guess.

Good but watch the membership

Loan part was smooth, funded next day, no issues. But the $14.99 membership kept charging after I paid off cause I forgot to cancel. My fault kinda, support did refund the last one. Just set a reminder if you're only borrowing once.

FrontPay replied

Fair, and thank you for saying it plainly. We refunded the last charge and we have made the cancel option more prominent in the account area. If you only ever want one Advance, cancel the moment you repay — it takes one click and stops immediately.

Paid for instant and it wasn't instant

Paid the express fee on a Friday night and the money didn't show until Monday. Turned out my credit union doesn't do instant transfers. Nobody told me that before I paid.

FrontPay replied

You are right and we are sorry. The fee should not have been taken — where a transfer cannot go instantly it reverts to standard and the $3.99 is not charged. That refund has been issued. We have also added a check that flags this before you pay rather than after.
